Meet Latanya
Meet Latanya: Welcome
I would like to believe that my professional accomplishments as a masters-level child and family psychologist, as a University of Michigan Wolverine Pathways instructional assistant, and an AFSME Unit 1640 council 25 Union chairperson is what makes me qualified to be on the D7 School Board. However, I believe that it's my fundamental values, love for community engagement, along with my passion for improving the overall well-being of children that has driven me to run for a D7 School Board seat.

As a Dearborn Heights resident for the past eight years and a member of the Dearborn Heights Community Cultural Relations Commission, I've observed the need for more diversity, equity, and inclusion in the educational system and the overall improvement and accessibility of Mental Health Services for students. With the D7 school district population becoming more diverse each day, it is my personal and professional belief that we are doing a disservice as a community if we do not implement educational policies that empowers all children and families in this city regardless of race, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and academic/mental health needs. If elected as a member of the D7 school board of education, this is what I will bring to the table, to advocate for our children. Both professionally and personally, with dignity, respect, transparency, and accountability.
